Second Time’s The Charm: Art Platform LA Back with a Vengeance

When Art Platform LA debuted last year, it chose its timing carefully. The art fair opened the same weekend as Pacific Standard Time (PST). With media and art world attention turned to Los Angeles and the sprawling PST initiative, which spanned multiple cities, museums, and galleries, Art Platform offered a unique roster of galleries and artists–all in one place. The endeavor was incredibly successful.

This year, the fair has upped the ante with a larger number of local and international artists, photographers, galleries, and museums that play a particular role in shaping the way Los Angeles experiences art.

One of the artists included in the show is The Art Reserve’s James Georgopoulos, whose photography reflects just one part of his creative work. He has also worked with paint, film, video, wood, and found objects. Other 2012 Art Platform LA participants include: Carmichael Gallery, Peter Fetterman Gallery, LACE, MOCA, LACMA, and Patrick Painter, Inc.

Art Platform LA runs from Sept. 28-Sept. 30 at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica. A special preview will be held the evening of September 27.
