James Georgopoulos and His Hollywood Arsenal to Preview at Siren Studios
In his latest series, mixed media artist James Georgopoulos presents Hollywood Arsenal. Georgopoulos has utilized the large format camera to record the motion picture industry’s most notorious firearms and film cameras. Georgopoulos combines the extremely unique process of mural size silver gelatin prints with elegantly layered fields of acrylic paint and resin. These meticulous and painstakingly produced prints are processed, created and individually toned in his darkroom, where Georgopoulos then trims, manipulates, paints and seals, which in the end creates a seamless and extraordinarily powerful statement that asks the viewer to examine their relationship with the entertainment industry, gun culture and the exposure that comes with fame and power.
The Art Reserve is proud to present James Georgopoulos’ Hollywood Arsenal in a one night only special preview sale benefiting 501(c)(3) non-profit The Art of Elysium, Saturday November 12, 2011 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at Siren Studios in Hollywood before the work takes off for the December fairs in Miami.
