ArtPad SF is back for it’s third year and creating quiet a buzz. Each year the dramatic transformation of San Francisco’s Phoenix Hotel from romper rooms to installation spaces and curatorial pop ups, signifies a new guard of artist, galleries and curators are emerging. This year’s opening night will benefit the SFMOMA art interest group SECA (Society for the Encouragement of Contemporary Arts) which annually awards bay area artists for their achievements. Visual programming which includes films, interactive projections and new media work will also be featured thanks to the support of regional art leaders such as GAFTA (Grey Area Foundation of The Arts) and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts amongst others. Leading galleries from New York to Los Angeles such as Imprint Projects New York and New Image Art (LA) are also scheduled to hold court at the event. The expected highlight of the event is Tsunami Synchro, the award-winning synchronized swim team scheduled to perform in the hotel pool to a variety of musical genres.
