Art Show and Fundraiser to Benefit Communities in Schools
Communities In Schools is a non-profit, high school dropout prevention organization, whose mission is to surround students with a community of support empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS works within the public school system to determine student needs and establishes relationships with local business, social service agencies, health care providers, and parent and volunteer organizations to provide needed resources. With the support of CIS, 94% of students served STAY IN SCHOOL.
CIS will be holding its inaugural fundraising event to celebrate
education and the arts. The event will feature a student art exhibition
entitled “SCHOOL LIFE,” which will consist of works by eleven students
from a pilot photography program initiated this year by CIS. The program
was led by renowned photographer Mark Leibowitz over a span of sixteen
weeks. The students have spent this time learning the disciplines of
photography from conceptualizing, producing, and editing. The students
will also be holding a live photo shoot throughout the evening.
Alongside the student exhibition, this event will have a silent auction, cocktails, a live photo shoot, musical guests, interactive media stations and more. CIS has also partnered with online charity auction site CharityBuzz.com to host an online auction, which will include a wide range of contemporary art and experiential packages, such as celebrity luncheons and vacation getaways. Proceeds from the event and auction will benefit future CIS programing. Check back soon to see a list of auction items!
