A Different Kind of Order: The ICP Announces Details for Triennial
Has it been three years already? Apparently so, as the International Center of Photography recently released the names of 28 artist to be featured in their upcoming Triennial, A Different Kind of Order. Opening May 17th, the theme of the show featuring photography and film and “focuses on artworks created in our current moment of widespread economic, social, and political instability.” In light of current events, the announcement proves to be an appropriate inquiry. Curators were keen to acknowledge the roles new media (read: the evolving definition of photographer turn filmmaker turn new media artist) and social media play in documenting the collective shift. While the world continues to debate the bias of traditional media in world events, the ICP Triennial suggests artists are the new guard for understanding the new world paradigm.
