Born in Pasadena, California, William Claxton was known for his unique and sensual images of Chet Baker from 1952 to 1957. Those images and others have become icons in the world of jazz photography for which he is most known for. Claxton also photographed celebrities and models. He married model Peggy Moffitt in 1960 and had one son, Christopher M. Claxton, who was born in 1973. William Claxton died on October 11, 2008 of complications from congestive heart failure.
